The show’s opening day is always an exciting day for us. This is not only because we’re busy welcoming visitors to our stand and seeing our great team of RED MILLS Ambassadors, it is also the first qualifier in the CSI International 7 & 8 year-olds which took place at 6pm in Simmonscourt. From four qualifiers throughout the season Irish based riders qualified their talented young horses for this prestigious class. The start list also included International riders from eight countries featuring RED MILLS Ambassadors Marlon Modolo ZanotelliBertram AllenScott Brash and Edwina Tops-Alexander.

It was talented Junior rider Michael Pender who was victorious in the Simmonscourt sunshine with HHS Hercules. The stallion owned by Kilkenny based Miguel Maria Bravo completed his round in 63.41 seconds over a second ahead of Cian O’Connor with Excellent B and two seconds ahead of third placed Philip McGuane and LVS Wizard.

With day one over there is still lots of activity to look forward to.  Many spectators’ favourite classes are scheduled for later on such as the Puissance, Pony Showjumping Finals and many Showing classes which are the pinnacle of the season for equine enthusiasts.
