The final round of the league was due to take place at Banteer Gymkhana in Cork last Sunday, however heavy rain forced organizers to abandon the event before the Grand Prix got underway. Connors had already amassed a huge total of 90 points with Uskerty Diamond Lady, giving him a 34 point winning margin over runner-up Liam O’Meara.

The Hilda Anthony-owned Uskerty Diamond Lady, scored an incredible six Grand Prix wins this season while she also finished second on two occasions along with a double of third place finishes. Bred-by John Doyle from Kilkenny, the 11-year-old is by the sire Carrick Diamond Lad out of the dam Uskerty Barnaby who is by Young Barnaby.

Tipperary’s Liam O’Meara was the only rider to come close to catching Connors at the top of the table. The Nenagh rider finished as runner-up with Realt Na Carrig, while he also filled third place with Curraghgraigue Jack Take Fligh. Cork’s Alan O’Regan finished fourth overall with Electric Fell while Seamus Hayes and Twister filled fifth place just ahead of Francis Connors and Capitol Cruise in sixth.
