Irish Duo Share Puissance Honours

August 10, 2014

Ireland dominated the Puissance competition at the Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show on Saturday evening, with Cork’s Billy Twomey and Kilkenny’s Michael Hutchinson sharing the €20,000 pay cheque when they were the only riders in the fourth jump-off to clear the big wall at 7 feet 3 inches (2m50).

Meanwhile Tipperary’s Greg Broderick and the Irish Sport Horse MHS Going Global were best of the Irish in Saturday’s 1m50 Jump-Off competition, faulting once in the five horse jump-off to finish fourth behind German winner Daniel Deusser. Broderick later went on to win the six year old horse championship at the RDS with the gelding Super Chilled.

The Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show comes to a close today (Sunday) with final of the Connolly’s RED MILLS 7 & 8 Year Old International class and the Longines Grand Prix of Ireland, which carries a massive €200,000 prize fund, the main features.
