The third RDS qualifier for this year’s Connolly’s RED MILLS 7 & 8 Year-Old International Competition at the Dublin Horse Show, took place at Barnadown in Wexford on Wednesday, with Tipperary’s Liam O’Meara taking the winners prize with Curraghgraigue Jack Take Fligh.
The seven-year-old gelding by Jacomar who is out of an Errigal Flight dam, produced the fastest double clear round of the competition, in fact all of the top six finished on a zero score.
Army rider Captain Michael Kelly finished as runner-up with Dunganstown Boy, while John Floody and Ballyknock Diamond came home in third. The last two qualifying spots for the RDS went to Robert Harrison with Holly Castleforbes in fourth while Nicolas Butler and Rincoola Rua finished fifth.
Riders now have just one more opportunity to book a place at the RDS with the Meadows Equestrian Centre in Armagh hosting the final qualifier, as they bid to follow in the footsteps of 2014 Connolly’s RED MILLS 7 & 8 Year-Old International champions Cian O’Connor and Aramis 573.
The top 20 qualifiers from the four Irish venues, will be joined at the Dublin Horse Show by up to twenty-four additional international entries from around the world, for the 2015 Connolly’s RED MILLS 7 & 8 Year-Old International Final at the RDS in Ballsbridge, where along with a very lucrative prize-fund, the overall winner will receive a tonne of Horse Care 10, Connolly’s RED MILLS market leading horse feed product.
