Waterford-born Tholm Keane scored his first win in this years Connolly’s RED MILLS Munster Grand Prix League, when he came out on top in round six of the series today (Sunday) at Killeagh Gymkhana in Co Cork. Keane partnered the Diarmuid Hurley-owned nine-year-old mare Future Storm to the fastest clear in the jump-off, stopping the clock in 38.49 seconds.
An excellent performance from young Cork rider Timmy Doyle saw him take runner-up spot with JS Bucks, finishing less than half a second (38.90) behind the winner. All of the top seven jumped double clear rounds, including Phillip Horgan who took third place with Jaccardo Van De Huffulen (39.09).
Patrick Joyce, who was jumping at his home gymkhana in Killeagh, finished fourth with Piltown S (42.79). Anthony O’ Regan took fifth place with Holmoak Koln (43.31), while Andrew Hodgins slotted into sixth with Bobello. Tholm Keane also filled seventh place with Andiamix Hero Z. Tadhg Beecher had the fastest time of the day with Loughnatousa Sheldon (37.96) but a costly fence on the floor dropped them down to eighth.
Francis Connors still holds top spot on the league table. The sixth round of the Connolly’s RED MILLS Munster Grand Prix league will take place at Charleville Agricultural Show on Saturday June 24th
