Alex Bragg

Having grown up with horses, Alex enjoyed success as a child in Pony Club mounted games before concentrating on showjumping. At 16, he took a break from riding but continued working with horses, training to become a registered farrier. He qualified with distinction and started his own shoeing business which is how he met his wife Simmone. It was with Simmone that he had his first insight into eventing and then began to ride and compete again when Simmone was pregnant with their first daughter. With several top 5 placings at 5*, and many podium finishes at 4*, Alex has successfully competed on Team GBR Nations Cup teams as well as being reserve for the European Championships in 2017 and 2019.

Career Highlights

Every prize giving delivers an almighty buzz, not just for me but for the horses owners, and our whole team. We are fortunate to have experienced many at big international events but a few that stand out are;
Winning the Event Rider Master’s leg from start to finish at Jardy. Being on that podium with the champagne flying is the most exciting and fun feeling.
Winning the Paris winter indoor xc and galloping around the around high five-ing the crowd was exhilarating.

Stable Star - Zagreb

This has to go to Zagreb (stable name Rhett after Rhett Butler from Gone with the Wind) Rhett was awarded 2019 Top Horse at the British Eventing awards for winning the most points this season. He is such a consistent horse and always gives 100% in every performance.

In 2019 he had; 5 international podium finishes 2 x top 4 finishes at 5*

He is a true gentleman in and out of the stable. He always seems to have a smile on his face when he sees his tack and tackles every challenge with an abundance of enthusiasm. He has played an integral part of the rise of Team Bragg Eventing, we are extremely proud of him. He has set the barr very high within the yard, and we are fortunate to have several horses which are working their way through the ranks aspiring to take his crown and continue the success at the very top level of the sport.
