Stable Star - Out of Africa

Homebred by my mother out of my Dad's hunter mare, by Welton Apollo.  He wasn't really built for the job but loved it, and always tried his heart out. We were 2nd in the U21 Championships, and then went on to be 8th at Blenheim and 5th at Luhmuhlen 4* the following year.  He struggled with his soundness after that, but he went on to complete Badminton twice (26th in 2015) and Burghley, and we were listed as reserves for the Senior Europeans at Blair.  He was known as 'King' Zulu; he had huge presence and so much character, and we had an amazing partnership.  I was very lucky to ride him!
