Jamie Gornall

Jamie runs Gornall Equestrian from state-of-the-art facilities in North Yorkshire. Unlike many of his peers Jamie didn’t grow up show jumping as he didn’t learn to ride until he was a teenager. He has made up for his later start in the sport, competing within show jumping for the last 15 years and has ridden for and trained with some of the best riders in the world. He started his show jumping career riding for leading lady rider Di Lampard and subsequently a number of the leading riders in Europe including Janne Friederike Meyer, Rolf Goran Bengtsson, John Whitaker and Ludger Beerbaum.

Stable Stars - Carsten and Christian 25

We have a lot of very nice horses currently at Gornall Equestrian but I must say I’m in a very fortunate position to have two horses that I believe to be real superstars that I couldn’t say which is better than the other. They are Carsten and Christian 25,  Carsten has been focused on the sport for the last few years so is a little bit more ring ready, he’s a horse that you really feel that when the jumps get bigger and wider he starts to grow in stature and rise to the big occasion; he has the fastest reflex speed I’ve ever felt on the jump. Christian has always been a very famous breeding stallion because of his pedigree, beautiful type and performance as a young horse, so he’s not really had the Grand Prix exposure that Carsten has had but he feels like he’s got limitless scope, power and intelligence, so I’m very excited to see how he progresses in the big sport this year.
