Joe Clayton

Joe has recently started his own business with partner Georgina Sterling at a new yard in Leicestershire having worked for Olympian Michael Whitaker for 10 years. In his early years he was more into football than horses and didn’t start riding until he was 11. Competing on the national and international circuits, Joe has been part of 11 Nations Cup teams for Great Britain and has placings all the way up to five star level. He won the Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers final at HOYS in 2016 and now has an exciting string of young horses to produce up the levels.

Stable Star - Gwendolin

My stable star would be a 7yr old mare I have called Gwendolin. She is by a stallion called Dirk which is by Canturano and she is owned by Stephen Lohoar. She has been ultra consistent from when I had her as a 6yr old until now. She's extremely careful and quite exuberant with her jump! I have had her on the Oliva Nova MET tour where she has really had to step up a level or 2 to jump big 1.40/1.45 tracks and has taken it all in her stride jumping plenty of clear rounds. She's definitely an exciting one for the future!!
